Top 3 Best Science Fiction Shows of All Time
63
There are a lot of good science fiction show on television.
There are also a lot of bad science fiction shows on television.
A real sci fi buff has to sift through a lot of horribleness to find the good gems.
But what are the best science fiction shows of all time? What are the 3 best sci fi shows to ever grace the small screen?
Below are my 3 favorite shows. Feel free to leave me a comment if you disagree. There is nothing I like more than arguing about science fiction.
1. Star Trek
Yes, Star Trek.
I grew up watching Star Trek reruns with my dad and as soon as I was old enough I started collecting all the Star Trek: The Original Series (TOS) episodes on VHS.
The I got into Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG). And the Deep Space Nine and Voyager.
I do not, however, like or endorse that crappy Enterprise show.
I know Star Trek kind of has an unfair advantage because it has had 4 different shows and a slew of movies to help add to it's popularity but I would submit that if the original Star Trek show hadn't been as great as it was none of the resulting spinoffs would ever have occurred.
name me one other show that only lasted 3 seasons that has lived as long or prospered like Star Trek. You can't, and that's why Star Trek is the best science fiction show ever.
2. Stargate SG-1
I LOVE Stargate SG-1.
I didn't really get started watching it until I discovered that all the episodes were on Hulu.com but once I got started I couldn't stop.
I must have watched about a season a day until I had watched almost every episode. As with most shows that run for awhile it got a little cheesy the last few seasons and I skipped a few episodes but it still gets high marks for all the other seasons.
Stargate SG-1 had a great cast, great plots and storylines and Amanda Tapping is just every sci fi nerds dream girl.
3. Batman: The Animated Series
I might have lost a few of you with this one.
But as I mentioned in the outset these are my choices. These are the science fiction shows that I love. These are the shows that I have watched the reruns of dozens and dozens of times. These are the shows I would like to have the DVDs of if I ever get stranded on a desert island.
Batman: The Animated Series was a great cartoon that I always looked forward to watching when I was home on the weekends as a teenager. Lately I rediscovered the show on the internet and I am hooked again.
Batman has always been my favorite superhero and the The Animated Series captured the essence of Batman better than any other show thus far in my opinion.

Good choices. That said, if you stopped watching of Enterprise before the show ended, it's well worth going back and watching the final season. When Manny Coto joined the show in the middle of season 3 the quality of the series increased drastically. (This is coming from someone who gave up on the show part-way through and started watching again when I randomly happened to catch one of the great episodes that came later.)
